As increasingly diverse sets of data emerge about library patrons, and libraries depend on that data to demonstrate value and effectiveness, a conversation has started in the library community about how we educate, organize, and engage patrons in their right to confidentiality and privacy in our libraries. This lightning talk will discuss ethical and practical implications for conversations around privacy and technologies of surveillance in libraries. Attendees will walk away with defined terms and available resources on the topic to share with others.
