Sorting Through the Confusion: Mis-attribution of Authors in HathiTrust, Project Gutenberg, and Other Online Resources
We already know about the misinformation we can find in Wikipedia and other online sources. But what about mistakes in GoogleBooks and the Internet Archive? Or even HathiTrust and Project Gutenberg? What sites perpetuate mistakes from the past? This presentation describes what one librarian discovered during the building of a Victorian women authors database. It will include a discussion of how these mistakes might be blindsighting users, and ways to stop the perpetuation of mistakes.
